About the Captain
Captain Lowell Wallace Jr
In the mid-1950's my father was employed by Coast Oyster Company in Washington.
He was transferred to Eureka to start the oyster operation for the commercial market. This operation involved planting seed from Japan and equipping the building at the foot of Commercial Street for shucking the oysters.
In the summer months I fished commercially with my grandfather for salmon out of Ilwaco, Washington. When I got bored with commercial fishing, I would go with my uncle, who owned Ilwaco Charter Service, on his 50 ft. Delta boat and worked as a deck hand.
I have countless hours of recreational fishing out of Eureka, California where I fished for salmon, halibut, rock fish, tuna and crab.
Other ports I have fished are Seward, AK, Garibaldi, OR, Newport, OR, Coos Bay, OR. (Charleston), Brookings, OR, Crescent City, CA, Shelter Cove, CA, Fort Bragg, CA and San Francisco, CA.
